“Anything Interactive is proud to announce the launch of the “Gamerthon” –
a 7 day marathon of gaming madness -
to take place in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.”

The Gamerthon is a seven day gaming Festival held at ACMI (The Australian Centre for the Moving Image), in Melbourne’s federation square during the school holiday period of March 31st – April 6th – and is one of the largest eSports events in Australasia.  Run alongside the GameOn exhibition, the Gamerthon will draw global attention - showcasing the latest in bleeding edge technology and gaming entertainment, as well as the best gamers from around the globe.  Run by Anything Interactive in conjunction with ACMI, it is a wholly Australian owned, and run, gaming event for Australians to be patriotic and proud of.  Spectators will have free entry to watch the tournaments, as well as to test drive the latest in gaming technology via the various interactive play zones.

The scope of this event has enormous potential in terms of industry and media exposure.  Located in one of the busiest hubs of Melbourne's CBD, with over 110,000 commuters passing through the adjacent Flinders Street Station daily, Federation Square serves as a key meeting point and leisure zone for all people in Melbourne.  ACMI, continuing with the recent success of the Pixar exhibition, which drew 150,000 viewers, is hosting the Gamerthon during the Easter school holiday period – setting a platform for all of Melbourne to venture into a vibrant, gaming culture.

Anything Interactive intends to break the stereotypical view of gamers - eating potato chips and being couch potatoes whilst playing.  The Gamerthon will ooze energy and excitement – gamers will have the opportunity to let their hair down and take part in a revolution of gaming.

Goals of the Gamerthon
Gamerthon intends to create an exciting environment for all people to participate in our celebration of gaming.  We encourage a healthy approach to social gaming and work hard to create high-energy gaming activities and eSports tournaments.

2008
In 2008, the Gamerthon will attract players from the Asia Pacific region.  With a strong focus on competitive gameplay and eSports, the Gamerthon intends to make it's mark as the premier eSports event in the region.

2009
In 2009, the Gamerthon intends to attract a world wide audience and use a similar model to the World Cyber Games, Cyber Athelete Professional League and eSports World Championships, making Australia recognised as a premier region for the development of eSports.

I am pretty much guessing it will be bigger than egames since the entry fee is FREE!

(if u like freebies too much, you go bald later)

but even if they charge us to spectate, I will.... (maybe I said too much?)

Unlike NRG, which was in conjunction with a CAR expo, this event is souly game orientated. The organisers, being former gamers themselves understand the needs of the gamers and will ensure to maximise enjoyment for them and the spectators.

SydCSS?

Bing will be delivering Ai's services to Syd - so rest assured - we will tie in a huge event for Syd by the end of 2008.

Cheesy

We actually have some very powerful contacts and clients in Sydney - we just don't have the services to roll out quality events like Melbourne does yet.  However, as mentioned above, Bing is taking a lead role as business manager to develop services in Sydney so that we can produce events for our clients.  As soon as Bing gets his **** together, expect events to roll out as they have in Melbourne.

Which state is next?

Cheesy

*wink

I think most would agree that NRG cup set the bar when it comes to female hotties and computer gaming.

We definitely don't want to forget about them.  Shoutout to Altech.  Tongue
